Description
Akbar Textiles seeks a dedicated and highly skilled Production Manager to lead the establishment and operation of a new textile manufacturing facility focused on producing high-quality home textile products. This role involves overseeing the planning, setup, and daily management of manufacturing processes for a range of products including bed sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, cushions, and hospitality bedding. The successful candidate will have significant experience in textile production, particularly in bedding and home furnishing sectors, and possess strong industry knowledge and supplier connections to ensure consistent quality, productivity, and cost control. The Production Manager will also collaborate closely with product development teams to support export customers in Pakistan and the UK. This position requires a strong leader who can independently recruit, train, and supervise staff while managing manufacturing budgets, inventory, and production schedules. The role offers an opportunity to shape a growing business in both domestic and international markets, demanding expertise in fabric sourcing, machinery selection, lean manufacturing principles, quality management, and supply chain coordination. Managing a small team, the Production Manager will be entrusted with full responsibility for the facility's performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the comprehensive planning, setup, and operational launch of the textile manufacturing facility, ensuring alignment with company goals and market demands.
- Identify, evaluate, and procure appropriate machinery and production equipment to optimize manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships for fabrics, fibers, filling materials, and packaging to secure reliable sources and competitive terms.
- Develop and implement efficient production processes covering cutting, stitching, filling, finishing, and packaging stages tailored to product specifications.
- Recruit, train, and manage the production team, fostering a skilled and productive workforce committed to quality standards and production targets.
- Monitor and maintain consistent product quality through robust quality control measures and adherence to industry standards.
- Oversee production schedules to meet delivery deadlines while ensuring optimal inventory levels and cost control within manufacturing budgets.
- Support product development efforts for both local and export customers by collaborating with design and quality assurance teams to meet market requirements.
- Implement lean manufacturing and continuous process improvement techniques to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.
- Manage compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the manufacturing facility.
- Provide regular reports on production metrics, challenges, and opportunities to senior management to inform strategic decisions.
- Leverage existing textile industry connections to enhance sourcing, technology adoption, and market positioning for the manufacturing operation.
