Customs Clearance Manager

Aliz International is seeking a diligent and proactive Customs Clearance Manager to oversee our customs clearance operations effectively. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong understanding of customs compliance, import and export regulations, and trade documentation. This role requires managing the end-to-end customs clearance process, ensuring accuracy in tariff and duty calculations, as well as efficient handling of customs valuation methods. The position demands a detail-oriented professional capable of navigating complex customs regulations to facilitate smooth and timely clearance of goods. While this role does not involve managing a team, it requires leadership in driving operational excellence and growth by actively acquiring new customers for customs clearance services. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the business by leveraging their expertise in tariff classification, HS code classification, and automated customs clearance systems. Attention to detail and strong communication skills are essential to build and maintain customer relationships and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. This position suits an experienced professional with at least five years in customs operations or a related field, committed to maintaining high standards and enhancing the company’s service offerings in a fast-paced customs clearing environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee daily customs clearance operations to ensure compliance with local and international customs laws and regulations.
• Review and process trade documentation related to imports and exports, ensuring all declarations are accurate and timely.
• Classify goods accurately using tariff and HS code classification systems to ensure correct duty and tax application.
• Calculate tariffs and duties effectively by applying appropriate customs valuation methods and regulations.
• Utilize automated customs clearance systems to enhance operational efficiency and reduce clearance times.
• Maintain meticulous customs documentation management to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
• Liaise with customs authorities and other regulatory bodies to resolve issues related to clearance delays or compliance.
• Monitor changes in import and export regulations to update processes and inform relevant stakeholders accordingly.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities by actively acquiring new customers for the company’s customs clearance services.
• Provide expert guidance and support to clients on customs compliance, import/export regulations, and proper documentation preparation.
• Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to streamline border clearance and shipping processes.
• Analyze clearance operations’ performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare reports on customs clearance activities, customer acquisition progress, and operational challenges for senior management.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, ethical guidelines, and industry standards at all times.
