Description
In this role, the Truck Dispatcher schedules shipments, coordinates appointments, and maintains document management to guarantee timely delivery and accurate shipment tracking. The candidate monitors freight status continuously and uses route optimization software combined with Transportation Management System Fleet Tracking and ELD Integration to enhance operational efficiency. The position involves adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) compliance standards. Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate loads to maximize transport efficiency and meet delivery deadlines.
- Optimize routes using specialized software to reduce mileage and fuel costs.
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to manage shipment and fleet operations.
- Communicate proactively with drivers to provide dispatch instructions and resolve issues.
- Negotiate freight rates with carriers and clients to ensure cost-effective transportation.
- Track shipments continuously and provide timely status updates to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with Hours Of Service (HOS) regulations and other legal requirements.
- Schedule appointments with clients and manage related documentation for shipments.
- Maintain knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
- Use Fleet Tracking and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Integration to monitor vehicle locations and driver hours.
- Coordinate cross-border trucking operations within the US and Canada, adhering to respective regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of all dispatch activities and shipment details for reporting and auditing purposes.
- Resolve operational challenges promptly to minimize shipment delays and maintain high service quality.
- Collaborate with logistics and customer service teams to enhance overall transportation management.
