Job Listing – Language Instructors (Urdu & English)

U.S. Embassy Islamabad – Post Language Program

Positions Available

•  2 × Urdu Language Instructors

•  2 × English Language Instructors

 

Location

U.S. Embassy compound, Islamabad. Virtual instruction may be required as directed.

 

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30. Instructors must be present on the compound during these hours for teaching, preparation, materials development, and student counseling.

 

Contract Duration

One-year base period with four optional one-year extensions.

 

Minimum Requirements (All Instructors)

•  Bachelor’s degree in the language being taught.

•  Minimum 3 years of classroom teaching experience with adult foreign students.

•  English proficiency at ILR Level 3 (General Professional Proficiency). Must be able to handle professional correspondence and coordination in English.

•  Strong subject expertise and ability to move students to target proficiency levels.•  Proficiency in MS Office and relevant software (including InPage for Urdu instructors).

•  Experience with online teaching platforms (Teams, Google Meet, Zoom, Skype).

•  Two verifiable professional references.

•  Demonstrated cultural competence.

•  Ability to provide clear performance feedback and submit accurate, timely reports.

 

Preferred

Prior experience with NFATC / Foreign Service Institute teaching methodology.

 

Additional Conditions

•  Successful candidates must complete U.S. Embassy security clearance and Risk Analysis Management (DS-4184) vetting.

•  Full-time on-compound presence is required.

•  Instructors will not work unescorted until clearance and badging are complete.

 

Compensation

Competitive monthly salary under a firm-fixed-price contract.

Responsibilities

•  Deliver survival, beginner, intermediate, and advanced language courses to adult Embassy personnel.

• Conduct specialized short courses and section-specific training.

• Teach one-on-one or small groups (1–6 students).

• Design and implement individualized training plans to address proficiency gaps.

• Administer language proficiency tests and track student progress.

• Provide regular counseling (bi-weekly for all students; weekly for at-risk students).

• Prepare all required reports, including progress documentation, end-of-session feedback, and biannual surveys.

• Develop teaching materials, maintain a resource library, and manage a shared digital platform.

• Integrate approved technology (including AI tools) into instruction.

• Attend monthly coordination meetings.
