Description

I’m looking for a talented YouTube video editor for an ongoing business documentary channel.

The editing style is similar to How Money Works, The Invisible Game, Micro, Wendover Productions, and Half as Interesting.

Most of the work is documentary-style editing:
- Finding/downloading strong B-roll, news clips, interviews, company footage, etc.
- Cutting footage to narration with good pacing
- Music and sound effects
- Simple text, transitions and visual effects
- Occasionally creating simple animations/motion graphics when they improve the video

This is NOT a 12–15 minute motion graphics video. More complicated animations will normally already be created separately and provided to you as finished assets.

I will normally provide the finished voiceover, transcript, detailed scene-by-scene visual directions, suggested footage searches, major animations, access to music/SFX, and reference videos.

I care much more about good visual taste, footage selection, pacing and storytelling than flashy effects. But if you see a moment where a simple animation, text treatment, document effect, etc. would make the video better, I want you to have the ability and creativity to add it.

Specific style examples
1. www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGus9QUGyng
Good examples of the animation/editing style at 0:03, 0:35, and 1:34.
2. www.youtube.com/watch?v=voh9JSRYrEI
Good examples at 0:00, 0:53, and 1:13.

The goal is not to animate the entire video like these sections. These are examples of the quality level for occasional motion graphics, mixed into a larger documentary edit using real footage.

Videos will usually be around 10–15 minutes, with consistent ongoing work if you're good - potentially multiple videos per week.

We’ll start with a short paid editing test, not a full unpaid video.

When applying, please send:
1. 2–3 videos you’ve edited that are closest to this documentary style. Please don’t send 20 random examples.
2. What editing software do you use?
3. Can you do basic After Effects/motion graphics? Briefly describe what you can do.
4. What is your hourly rate?
5. Roughly how many hours would you expect a polished 12-minute video like this to take if I provide the voiceover, detailed visual plan, and major animations?
6. How many hours per week are you currently available?

Please talk to me like a normal human :) No AI-generated application letters. I care much more about seeing your actual work.

Budget: around $3–6/hour depending on skill, speed and experience. Long-term work available for the right person.
