Description
The Role
We are building premium energy systems across solar, battery storage, EV charging, energy management, and microgrids. We are looking for a hands-on Senior IoT & Azure Cloud Integration Lead to take technical ownership of an existing production-oriented Azure telemetry platform and drive the next integration phase.
Note: This is not a greenfield project and it is not a pure frontend role. The core ingestion path is already established: industrial telemetry flows from controllers through Azure IoT Hub and Event Hubs into a .NET ingestion worker and PostgreSQL. Your job is to make this platform operationally strong, secure, observable, and ready to support read-only portal and product integrations. You will work closely with leadership and the product team. You must be able to take ownership, make sound technical decisions, document them clearly, and deliver without waiting for someone else to explain legacy systems.
What You Will Own
You will own the technical integration layer from edge telemetry to usable product data:
Take ownership of Azure IoT Hub, Event Hubs, Container Apps, Azure Container Registry, PostgreSQL, and the ingestion worker.
Maintain and improve a .NET/C# event-driven ingestion service handling industrial controller telemetry.
Manage MQTT-based device integration and understand industrial protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP.
Ensure reliable telemetry routing, schema validation, raw data retention, typed data storage, dead-letter handling, and replay-safe processing.
Build and maintain controlled end-to-end tests using simulator devices, unique message IDs, and verifiable database/log evidence.
Implement practical observability: Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, dead-letter alerts, processing failures, checkpoint delay, and data-pipeline health.
Strengthen security through Azure RBAC, least privilege, Key Vault, safe credential rotation, and separate test access paths.
Produce practical runbooks, architecture documentation, incident procedures, and ownership maps.
Define and expose a secure, read-only API layer for portal views of sites, devices, telemetry history, and alarms.
Work with product and frontend teams to deliver useful data views without introducing autonomous control before the data and access model are proven.
Required Experience
You must be genuinely senior in Azure-based integration work. We are looking for demonstrated production experience, not course certificates.
5+ years of hands-on cloud/backend engineering experience, including production Azure environments.
Strong experience with Azure IoT Hub, Azure Event Hubs, Azure Container Apps, Azure Container Registry, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics.
Strong C#/.NET experience, ideally with Worker Services, background processing, and event-driven systems.
Solid PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, data integrity, indexes, query performance, and operational troubleshooting.
Practical experience with MQTT, device telemetry, message contracts, JSON schema/versioning, and idempotent processing.
Integration experience with industrial devices or energy systems; Modbus RTU/TCP is strongly preferred.
Proven ability to manage Azure security: RBAC, Key Vault, managed identities, secrets, SAS policies, and credential rotation.
CI/CD & Source Control: Experience with GitHub-based code review, pull requests, CI/CD discipline, and production change control.
Language: Strong written and spoken English. (Swedish is a strong advantage).
Delivery Standard: Fast Technical Takeover
This is an existing platform. A strong senior hire must take ownership quickly and show practical progress from the first week:
Day 1: Understand the telemetry architecture, repository, Azure resources, active risks, and current evidence baseline.
Days 2–3: Independently trace and troubleshoot the full data path; identify concrete ownership, security, and observability gaps.
Week 1: Deliver one production-relevant improvement: an alert/runbook, safe test-access design, ownership map, or read-only data-API implementation plan.
Weeks 2–3: Begin delivering portal data integration and priority platform hardening without an unnecessary rebuild.
You Are a Strong Fit If You:
Can investigate a message that reaches Event Hubs but does not appear in PostgreSQL using evidence rather than guesswork.
Understand why raw telemetry, typed tables, and dead-letter storage serve different purposes.
Know how to test safely with a simulator rather than using live customer or vendor credentials.
Can take over an existing platform, improve it methodically, and avoid unnecessary rewrites.
Are comfortable saying "do not change production yet" when the evidence is not sufficient.
Communicate clearly with leadership and can convert technical risk into a concrete decision and next step.
This Role Is NOT For You If You:
Are primarily a frontend developer, prompt engineer, or generalist without deep Azure integration experience.
Want to rebuild existing systems before understanding them.
Treat production credentials, Azure roles, or event-stream policies casually.
Need detailed instructions for every investigation or cannot document your decisions.
Interview Process
The process is designed to verify real operating ability quickly:
Initial conversation focused on your relevant Azure IoT, .NET, and industrial integration experience.
A short technical architecture case: trace a telemetry message from device to PostgreSQL and explain a safe troubleshooting path.
Final discussion with leadership on ownership, delivery speed, and your approach to the first three weeks.
