Description
The CAD Design Engineers play a critical role in supporting solar PV project development through meticulous preparation of site plans, single line diagrams, and structural mounting layouts. They are responsible for developing rooftop solar panel placements, electrical equipment layouts, and cable routing plans that comply with engineering specifications. Candidates will manage multiple drawing revisions, ensure layering standards, and assemble drawing packages needed for project submissions and installation teams. Although this role does not include managing a team, it demands collaboration and coordination with other engineering professionals to align project goals and technical requirements accurately.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed solar photovoltaic system layouts using AutoCAD and other CAD software.
- Develop rooftop solar panel placement and arrangement drawings that optimize spatial and structural considerations.
- Create site plans, roof layouts, and precise equipment positioning drawings to support installation.
- Produce electrical Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) that clearly illustrate electrical design and interconnections.
- Prepare routing drawings for DC and AC cables along with conduit layouts to ensure efficient electrical installations.
- Design inverter, battery, and electrical equipment layouts based on engineering specifications.
- Develop structural mounting and solar panel arrangement drawings adhering to technical and safety standards.
- Translate sketches, markups, and verbal engineering instructions into formal CAD drawings with high accuracy.
- Update and revise drawings in response to engineering comments, client feedback, and project changes.
- Maintain the accuracy, consistency, and professional appearance of drawings, including adherence to layer standards.
- Compile and prepare complete drawing packages for project submissions, permitting, and installation teams.
- Coordinate closely with solar design engineers to confirm that drawings meet technical and project requirements.
- Manage drawing revisions and document control to ensure that all project documentation is current and accessible.
