The Orphanage Director at Dekalb Trade Voice plays a pivotal role in managing all operational, administrative, and child welfare aspects of a residential orphanage facility. This leadership position demands comprehensive oversight of daily campus activities, ensuring the wellbeing of resident children, and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment. The role includes managing a dedicated team of four professionals to support administration, care services, and facility management with a focus on excellence and compliance with established standards. This role requires a seasoned professional with at least five years of demonstrable experience in managing residential care environments or welfare organizations. The Director ensures smooth coordination of security, logistics, procurement, and maintenance while actively supervising child care practices and supporting educational progress. They maintain financial discipline through meticulous record keeping, budget management, and donor relations, advancing the organization’s mission through strong leadership, empathy, and effective stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the orphanage campus including security management, logistics coordination, procurement processes, vendor relations, and premises maintenance to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
- Supervise child care and grooming activities ensuring that resident children receive empathetic support, appropriate housing conditions, nutritious meals, and a clean living environment compliant with welfare standards.
- Monitor and support the educational development of all resident children by tracking academic progress, coordinating with schools, and implementing intervention plans to address identified learning challenges.
- Develop and manage the orphanage’s budget, maintain accurate financial records including petty cash and asset logs, and prepare transparent financial reports to ensure accountability to donors and stakeholders.
- Coordinate fundraising campaigns, manage donor interactions including visits and receipt issuance, and foster strong relationships with welfare boards and external partners to secure ongoing financial support.
- Lead, supervise, and assign tasks to the support staff team, which includes administrative assistants, kitchen staff, caregivers, and security personnel, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with organizational goals.
- Maintain comprehensive records and reports related to administrative workflows, child welfare status, and operational activities using proficient Microsoft Office and Excel skills.
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and operational standards pertaining to residential child care and institutional administration.
- Promote a culture of confidentiality, integrity, and empathy throughout the organization, prioritizing the best interests of the children and the overall mission of the foundation.
