About the Role
We are seeking a Cost and Inventory Accountant to support a U.S.-based client with manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, financial analysis, and month-end close activities.
The person in this role will maintain accurate cost and inventory records, analyze manufacturing cost variances, support financial reporting, and provide reliable accounting information for business and operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing, production, and operating costs, including materials, labor, and overhead.
- Analyze cost variances, investigate underlying causes, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate inventory valuation and costing for raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods.
- Maintain cost accounting records in ERP or accounting systems.
- Prepare reconciliations, cost analyses, and supporting schedules for month-end and year-end close.
- Support financial reporting, management analysis, and audit requests.
- Review and improve costing procedures, inventory controls, and accounting processes.
- Maintain supporting documentation in accordance with accounting policies and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve cost accuracy, inventory controls, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of financial and business information.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, management accounting, inventory accounting, or financial analysis.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and manufacturing cost analysis.
- Experience analyzing material, labor, and manufacturing overhead variances.
- Experience maintaining accounting records and supporting schedules in an ERP or accounting system.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including reconciliations, data analysis, and financial reporting support.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain accurate financial records.
Preferred Qualifications
- CMA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience with inventory costing and variance analysis in an ERP environment.
Remote Work Requirements
- Must be based in Pakistan and able to work fully remotely.
- Reliable internet connectivity and a suitable professional workspace.
- Availability to work during the agreed schedule to support coordination with the U.S.-based client.
- Ability to work independently while meeting reporting and financial close deadlines.
- Ability to securely handle confidential financial and business information.
