Description
The engineer will design, develop, and maintain POS software and hardware systems that support offline transactions with reliable local caching solutions such as IndexedDB and SQLite. Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and conflict resolution is critical in ensuring data integrity when operating without consistent network connectivity. Additionally, the role includes integrating payment processing platforms including Stripe Terminal, Adyen, Clover, Pax, and Ingenico. This position is ideal for a technically strong professional focused on delivering resilient and innovative retail solutions to meet Forvx's high-quality standards and client requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy software components for POS systems using JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks like Electron or React Native.
- Integrate hardware devices with POS software, including printers, scanners, and payment terminals, utilizing communication protocols such as Serial, USB, Bluetooth, and ESC/POS.
- Implement and maintain local data caching strategies using IndexedDB and SQLite to support offline transaction processing and synchronization.
- Develop and troubleshoot embedded web runtimes and Progressive Web Applications optimized for dedicated POS kiosks and hardware devices.
- Collaborate with payment gateway providers to integrate and maintain payment processing workflows within POS applications, supporting platforms such as Stripe Terminal, Adyen, Clover, Pax, and Ingenico.
- Identify and resolve system issues related to hardware communication, software integration, and transaction conflicts in distributed system environments.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code adhering to Forvx’s engineering standards and best practices.
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging of software and hardware components to ensure reliability, security, and performance.
- Monitor POS systems’ operational health and perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize system availability.
- Participate in technical design discussions and contribute innovative ideas for improving existing hardware-software solutions.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging POS technologies, hardware advancements, and software frameworks relevant to retail hardware integration.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for system architecture, integration points, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, quality assurance, and customer support to deliver seamless POS solutions.
