Join a dynamic team at Generator as a Mechanic Half Mechanic Helper, where you will utilize a diverse set of mechanical skills to maintain and repair heavy industrial generators and diesel engines. In this role, you support daily operations by performing oil and fluid changes, diesel engine repairs, and fault diagnoses. You work closely with a team of five, which you will help manage, ensuring efficient coordination and execution of repair and maintenance tasks. Your hands-on expertise in using hand and power tools, welding, grinding, and metal cutting will be crucial in sustaining equipment reliability and performance. This role requires proficiency in electronic control module fault-code scanning and live-data analysis to accurately diagnose engine issues. Additionally, you apply your knowledge of surface preparation, painting, and finishing techniques to maintain the appearance and protection of machinery. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential as you perform compression and leak-down testing and handle manifold injector servicing and cleaning. Your contribution ensures the longevity and efficient functioning of industrial machinery in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil and fluid changes to ensure optimal operation of heavy industrial generators and diesel engines.
- Perform diesel engine diagnostics and repairs using electronic control module fault-code scanning and live-data analysis tools.
- Manage a team of five personnel, coordinating daily work schedules and providing technical guidance to maintain workflow efficiency and team productivity.
- Utilize hand and power tools effectively for repairs, including welding machines, grinders, and cutting tools.
- Execute mechanical tests such as compression and leak-down testing to identify engine faults and confirm repair quality.
- Perform metal cutting, deburring, and surface preparation to facilitate effective repair and maintenance.
- Apply surface preparation techniques including sanding and masking, and conduct priming and clear-coat workflows to protect and finish equipment surfaces.
- Carry out manifold injector servicing and cleaning to maintain fuel system efficiency and engine performance.
- Operate grinders and buffers safely and competently to prepare surfaces and maintain equipment standards.
- Diagnose and fix faults promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation of generators and engines.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to report progress, issues, and improvements.
