Gowin Accountants is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience and demonstrates strong skills in financial reporting, account reconciliation, budgeting, and tax preparation. This role involves preparing year-end accounts for limited companies and sole traders, assisting with Corporation Tax and Self Assessment tax returns, maintaining accurate bookkeeping, and ensuring compliance with UK accounting and tax regulations. The successful candidate will work independently on multiple client assignments, managing their time effectively to meet strict deadlines without direct team management responsibilities. In this role, you will collaborate with clients and internal staff to review financial records, resolve discrepancies, and submit accurate filings such as VAT returns and Companies House confirmation statements. Strong proficiency in journal entry processing, double-entry bookkeeping, and payroll processing with PAYE submissions is essential. Your ability to communicate professionally, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to data protection standards will support the smooth delivery of accounting services across various clients. Responsibilities
- Prepare year-end financial statements for limited companies and sole traders in compliance with UK accounting principles.
- Assist in preparing and submitting Corporation Tax and Self Assessment tax returns.
- Maintain detailed and accurate bookkeeping records using account reconciliation software.
- Process VAT returns accurately and on schedule, reviewing for any discrepancies or missing information.
- Manage payroll processes, including PAYE submissions, ensuring timely and compliant salary payments.
- Conduct thorough bank reconciliations and balance-sheet reconciliation to ensure financial accuracy.
- Review client financial records regularly to identify and resolve missing data or inconsistencies.
- Support Companies House filings by preparing and submitting confirmation statements and other required documents.
- Communicate professionally with clients and team members to clarify financial data and provide updates.
- Manage simultaneous client assignments effectively, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines without direct supervision.
- Adhere strictly to UK accounting standards, tax laws, data protection regulations, and confidentiality requirements throughout all activities.
