Description
In this role, the rigger performs essential tasks that ensure the structural integrity and performance of telecom towers and related equipment. Key duties include installing antennas, microwave dishes, feeders, brackets, and other components, as well as aligning and mounting RF equipment accurately to ensure optimal signal strength. The position requires expertise in tower climbing safety protocols, rigging procedures, and precise handling of lifting equipment. The candidate must conduct installations in compliance with approved procedures and maintain safe working conditions during all activities. While this position does not include team management responsibilities, it plays a vital role in collaborating with project teams to successfully complete telecom infrastructure deployments in diverse and challenging environments.
Responsibilities
- Conduct tower climbing and perform all work-at-height activities following established safety protocols.
- Install antennas, microwave (MW) equipment, feeders, brackets, and other related accessories securely and in accordance with technical specifications.
- Perform rigging operations including material lifting, positioning, and securing equipment on telecom towers.
- Support the alignment and installation of antenna and microwave equipment to ensure optimal signal transmission.
- Route and secure cables safely and efficiently to maintain functionality and prevent damage.
- Carry out structural integrity assessments and maintain equipment to ensure long-term stability and performance.
- Adhere strictly to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safety guidelines during all tower and installation activities.
- Collaborate with project teams to follow approved installation procedures and complete tasks within specified timelines.
- Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment at all project sites, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or deviations from installation standards promptly to supervisors.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to installation activities, rigging operations, and safety compliance.
- Adapt to work at various project locations within the South Region as required, demonstrating flexibility and commitment.
- Utilize signal strength measurement, RF testing, and measurement tools effectively to verify the performance of installed equipment.
- Ensure the correct use and maintenance of antenna mounting hardware and rigging gear to prevent accidents or equipment damage.
- Participate in ongoing safety training and contribute to continuous improvement in tower installation practices.
