Description
In this role, the Health Coordinator actively monitors and evaluates healthcare workers’ performance, facilitates record-keeping and data management, ensures timely immunizations, and organizes health seminars and capacity building for staff members. They are accountable for clinical governance and infection control practices at the CHC, maintaining health funds, and coordinating supply requisitions and hospital waste management. Reporting on program progress through detailed data analysis and field monitoring reports is an essential duty. Collaboration with various external bodies and maintaining correspondence with national and regional offices further enhance the program’s reach and effectiveness. The position requires an MBBS or MD qualification registered with the Pakistan Medical Council, complemented by clinical experience and a minimum of one to two years of post-registration practical exposure.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the implementation of all health program activities and tasks at the Community Health Center and in the field in alignment with health policies, SOPs, and quality standards.
- Support Regional Program Manager (RPM) in preparing the Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) for the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and ensure the smooth execution of AOP related to health initiatives.
- Examine outdoor patients at the Community Health Center, Mobile Health Units, and during Medical Camps to provide timely and accurate primary healthcare.
- Maintain meticulous bookkeeping, record management, and data handling to guarantee the integrity and availability of healthcare information.
- Coordinate the timely referral of high-risk patients to appropriate healthcare facilities to ensure comprehensive care.
- Monitor daily visits by Community Health Workers (CHWs) and schedule regular visits by Lady Health Visitors (LHVs) to maintain continuous community health engagement.
- Conduct weekly field visits to assess the performance of LHVs and CHWs, providing support and supervision to enhance service delivery.
- Implement and manage the School Health Program, ensuring health education and services are provided effectively within educational institutions.
- Facilitate and oversee accurate record and data keeping by LHVs adhering to established healthcare standards.
- Ensure immunization of children according to the national Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) schedule, and provide Tetanus Toxoid (TT) immunizations to Women of Reproductive Age (WRAs) and pregnant women.
- Conduct regular growth monitoring of children under five years of age to identify and address developmental concerns early.
- Organize and lead Medical Camps, Health Seminars, and health sessions involving LHVs, laboratory technicians, and CHWs to boost community health awareness and capacity.
- Drive capacity building initiatives for health staff including both technical personnel and nontechnical members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Supervise and assist LHVs in verbal autopsy (VA) procedures and data validation processes prior to reporting to ensure high data quality and accuracy.
- Prepare demand requisitions for medical supplies maintaining optimal stock levels to support healthcare activities.
- Manage the Health Fund diligently ensuring proper allocation and utilization of resources.
- Implement clinical governance within the Community Health Center, emphasizing infection prevention, control policies, and hospital waste management with support from the RPM and health team.
- Compile, analyze, and correct program data, sharing progress reports on monthly, quarterly, and annual bases to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Generate comprehensive field monitoring reports using specified formats to assess program implementation and outcomes.
- Develop and maintain effective liaison and linkages with government health departments and like-minded non-governmental organizations operating within the same region to strengthen collaborations.
- Maintain thorough correspondence records with the National Office and Regional offices to ensure seamless communication and compliance.
- Perform any other official tasks assigned by supervisors to support program goals.
