Description
The Medical Lab Technologist at Islamabad Diagnostic Centre is a vital role that encompasses performing a wide range of clinical laboratory tests and analyses required for accurate medical diagnoses and patient care. The position demands proficient handling of clinical chemistry analysis, microbiological culturing and identification, as well as managing laboratory information systems such as Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for efficient data entry, validation, and quality control. The role requires adherence to quality control procedures in compliance with ISO 15189 standards to ensure the reliability and accuracy of laboratory results. This position involves supervising and coordinating a large team of approximately 7000 personnel, necessitating strong leadership and organizational abilities to maintain seamless laboratory operations. The Medical Lab Technologist is also expected to collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to support patient care while upholding high standards of professionalism and operational excellence. The role requires adaptability in a busy environment and a commitment to continuous learning and development within medical laboratory technology.
Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee clinical laboratory testing including clinical chemistry and microbiological analyses to support diagnosis and treatment.
- Manage and utilize Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for accurate data entry, validation, and quality control.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to comply with ISO 15189 standards ensuring laboratory test accuracy and reliability.
- Supervise and coordinate laboratory operations and staff, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, manage sample processing, and ensure timely reporting of test results.
- Provide support in phlebotomy, patient handling, and interactions with healthcare providers to facilitate smooth lab services.
- Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to guarantee optimal functionality and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in training and mentoring of laboratory personnel to enhance technical competencies and uphold quality standards.
- Collaborate with other departments for appointment management, administrative support, and customer service to improve patient experience.
- Adapt to changing laboratory technologies and procedures, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to professional development.
