Islamic Relief Pakistan is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in engineering support roles and strong technical skills including AutoCAD and data management. This role involves assisting in project monitoring and evaluation, collecting and analyzing data, and supporting survey design and implementation. The Assistant Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring that engineering projects meet quality standards and are completed efficiently, contributing to the organization’s development objectives. The Assistant Engineer supports various engineering functions by preparing technical reports, managing databases, and utilizing advanced data collection techniques to inform project decisions. This position requires effective coordination and collaboration across different departments, maintaining accurate records, and applying technical knowledge to resolve engineering challenges. While this role does not involve team management responsibilities, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and contribute actively to project success.

Responsibilities

The following are the main responsibilities that the role holder will be accountable for:

Community management skills to identify and select physical infrastructure schemes in consultation with targeted communities and stakeholders.
To ensure the smooth implementation and completion of the project activity according to specification and designed.
To ensure the quality and quantity of work at site as per project documents i.e. specifications, BOQs, Construction Drawings etc.
Conduction of technical feasibilities of the proposed schemes.
Supervise the construction works, manage the concerned contractor’s team and ensure the quality and quantity at construction sites.
To keep the office update about progress at site and update the progress report soft and hard.
Reports preparation for the WASH interventions.
Familiar with PATS project Activities.

Coordination (internal & external stakeholders)
Record management (both soft & hard) related to job role.
Working knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, ERP systems
Communication, Planning & Scheduling, Time, Stress & Conflict Management, Situation handling, Leadership Skills, Workload & community management
Extend support to MEAL / MIS / Communications staff for gathering desired information.
Close coordination with line manager for effective implantation of project activities.

Demonstration of IR Values while working with team / stake holders
Adaptation of environment friendly & cost-effective approaches in your domain
Respect & promote the workplace diversity with special focus on inclusion
Frequent field visits for effective project interventions.
Ensure compliance with IR’s policies & procedures in true spirit for effective delivery of services to communities.
In depth understanding of IR values and their demonstration in the field while working with communities.

Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Qualifications

BS/B-Tech (Hon’s)- Civil Engineering / or DAE-Civil Technology

Experience:

01 Year Experience with BS / B.Tech (Hon’s)- Civil Engineering (or) 02 Years with DAE-Civil Tech

Computer/other Skills:

The candidate shall be computer literate and having good skills of MS office, MS excel, power point and AutoCAD.
Have good communication Skills, can effectively communicate with local communities.
Can work in Stressed environment and have ability to meet deadlines.
Have time management skills.

Value Added Skills:

Relevant experience of working with humanitarian/development sector/INGOs
Working knowledge of regional languages of Pakistan.

Language:

Urdu, English, Local Languages Saraiki & Baloch

Knowledge and application of Sphere Standards, Humanitarian Principles, telecommunication skills and proficiency in information technology/ computer skills and other guiding principles during interaction with Disaster affected communities.
Good skills in English (oral and written) including excellent writing skills, however command over Local language is very desirable.
