Social Mobilizer

Description

The incumbent will be responsible to implement the social mobilization of activities under the project in line with IRP strategy to empower communities in the target areas, The SO will also support Livelihood interventions which aim to ensure general communities (especially women in the areas, are able to live in an environment in which their rights are protected)

Responsibilities

Technical Level

• Implementation of project/programme activities as per business process & project documents
• Participatory approach
• Capacity building of communities
• Mobilization of communities in emergency for implementation of agriculture/ livelihood Interventions 

• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook, ERP systems

• Development of work plans for timely implementation
• Surveys, Data Collection and identification of rightsholders

• Demonstration of IR Values while working with communities
• Empowering communities to ensure organizational accountability

• Assisting in identification & documentation of organizational successes
• Adaptation of environment friendly & cost effective approaches / activities for community development
• Assisting in special attention to inclusion during the implementation.
• Assisting in strengthening mechanism to influence the decision makers through communities’ advocacy & campaigning.
• Scope of the Role 
• Support & conduct targeted assessments and surveys on timely basis. 
• Implementation of the prepared plan accordingly on time reporting of the overall activities being undertaken at the field level. 
• Coordinate Logistics and transportation activities for distribution of the project deliverables i.e. animals handing over and taking over.
• Identifying any gaps or shortcomings in the project targets at the field level.

• Extend support to IRP Seasonal Programme activities.

  KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  The following are the main responsibilities that the role holder will be accountable for: 

• Keep close coordination with existing social structure and stakeholder’s project area for smooth execution of project activities.
• Having a good understanding of Islamic Relief system & its operation and its different sectors.
•  Resolve conflict among the target community through effective dialogues.
• Social Organizer will be responsible for identification of vulnerable group particularly women i.e. Widows, divorced, separated and female headed household etc.
• Ensure inclusion of vulnerable and marginalized groups in project interventions.
• Proper record keeping of project activities at community & office level both in soft & hard form.
• Conduct regular meeting with community organizations and ensure community ownership in project activities.
• Participates in need assessments, Participatory Rural Appraisals, feasibility studies, stakeholder analyses and community consultations;
• Elaborate all needs based inputs and all other activities according to the objectives of the programme and the beneficiary involvement strategy.
• Mobilizes the community in the effective use of the community resources.
• Mobilize communities for the prioritizing of recovery activities and strategies.
• Maximize beneficiary contribution.
• Participate in distributions whenever required.
• The Social mobilizer should develop in-depth knowledge of all their villages of intervention and should have close contacts with community leaders, volunteers.
• Support and supervise project volunteers and give them useful instruction regarding their work improvement, through coordination with the relevant skilled staff
• Providing technical guidance, training and support to individuals targeted by each project in line with the programme strategy and intended output.
• Ensure on time completion of the tasks in line with guidance.
• Supervise the unloading of the material on site as well as quality and quantity of the items 
• Ensure the timely submission of activities completion reports of the project.

• Perform any other task assigned by supervisor as and when required.

  PERSON SPECIFICATION

• It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with Islamic values and principles as well as commitment to Islamic Relief Worldwide vision, mission and core values.

  Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications 

• Graduation or Master’s degree in Agriculture/Sociology or relevant field
• Organizational and coordination skills.
• Ability to create, composes, edits the field record.
• Interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in a multicultural community.
• Knowledge of Social Mobilization principles and procedures.
• Ability to gather data, compiles information, and prepares reports.
• Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures

• Command on MS Office, use of internet and emails

  Experience

• 02-year experience with bachelor degree/14 years education or 01 year with Masters/Bachelor (Hons) 16 years of education.

• Must have experience of working for a Humanitarian Organization specifically in recovery and development phases.
