Description
In this position, the Surveyor must demonstrate strong technical expertise in topographic surveying, bad-ground identification, and construction surveying techniques. Daily tasks include operating Total Stations, Auto Levels, and Theodolites to collect and analyze site data pertinent to subbase and subgrade quality. The Surveyor will oversee subgrade level controls to support earthwork activities and must prepare comprehensive documentation in line with project specifications. Leadership and coordination with the field team are essential, as the role involves managing survey activities and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards. The Surveyor will serve as a technical authority on subgrade matters and collaborate closely with engineering and construction teams to deliver reliable surveying services for successful project execution.
Responsibilities
- Set out centerlines, slopes, and grade stakes accurately for road and earthwork operations using surveying instruments such as Total Station, Theodolite, and Auto Level.
- Perform subgrade elevation controls to ensure compliance with project design specifications and engineering standards.
- Conduct topographic surveys, bad-ground identification, and subgrade analysis to assess site conditions before construction activities.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain surveying instruments including Total Station, Auto Level Instrument, and Theodolite to ensure precise measurements.
- Collect, process, and document survey data systematically and prepare detailed site measurement and subgrade elevation reports.
- Verify soil compaction and subgrade preparation levels through testing and analysis to confirm adherence to project specifications.
- Coordinate and supervise survey operations on-site, managing a team of 20 personnel to ensure efficient workflow and accuracy of data.
- Collaborate with civil engineers, construction supervisors, and project managers to integrate survey findings into construction planning and execution.
- Ensure all survey activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations on construction sites.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of construction surveying techniques, subgrade leveling methods, and industry best practices.
- Support the continuous improvement of surveying processes by providing feedback, troubleshooting field issues, and recommending enhancements.
- Manage survey-related documentation and data archiving to facilitate audit, quality control, and future reference.
- Train and mentor junior survey team members to develop their skills in subgrade surveying and instrument operation.
- Assist in the calibration and testing of soil compaction equipment as part of subgrade quality assessment procedures.
- Participate in project meetings to report on surveying progress, challenges, and deliverables.
