Description
We are a U.S.-based accounting firm expanding our Karachi back-office operations and are looking for a full-time Tax & Accounting Associate.
This role is for someone with a strong accounting foundation who is intelligent, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. Prior U.S. tax experience is not required. We will provide structured training covering U.S. taxation, software, and our internal processes.
During tax season, you will primarily focus on U.S. tax preparation and related support. Outside of tax season, the role transitions into bookkeeping, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and other accounting assignments. This is intended to be a long-term opportunity for someone interested in developing practical experience in U.S. taxation and accounting.
What Your Role Will Involve
- Participate in structured training covering U.S. tax fundamentals, tax software, and internal firm workflows.
- Organize client financial records, prepare supporting workpapers, and perform accurate data entry.
- Gradually take responsibility for preparing U.S. individual and business tax returns as your experience grows.
- Assist with bookkeeping, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and other accounting assignments outside of tax season.
- Research basic tax and accounting issues, collaborate with the team to keep assignments moving efficiently, and maintain strict client confidentiality.
Requirements
- Strong academic foundation in accounting, finance, or a related field (candidates from leading academic institutions or reputable professional accounting programs are highly preferred).
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn new concepts quickly.
- Available to work a full-time evening/night schedule overlapping with U.S. Eastern Time business hours.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Interest in building a long-term career involving U.S. taxation and accounting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior hands-on experience in accounting, bookkeeping, audit, or taxation.
- ACCA, CA, ICMA, or similar accounting qualifications (or current candidates).
- Experience with accounting software, Excel, or financial statement preparation.
