The Procurement Specialist at Masood Textile Mills plays a vital role in managing and optimizing the sourcing and procurement functions within the textile supply chain. This position requires a seasoned professional with over seven years of experience in product sourcing, vendor management, commercial negotiations, and import operations. The specialist leads procurement operations supporting six key customers while overseeing and guiding a dedicated team of five professionals. The role emphasizes establishing and nurturing supplier relationships, especially with international vendors from regions including China, Hong Kong, Dubai, Vietnam, and Bangladesh, ensuring cost-effective procurement without compromising quality standards. This role demands expertise in strategic sourcing and contract negotiation coupled with an in-depth understanding of procurement compliance and software systems including ERP platforms. The specialist is responsible for evaluating commercial options, identifying alternatives that reduce costs, and managing purchase orders efficiently. The procurement specialist serves as a critical link between the organization and its suppliers, contributing to sustained operational excellence and cost optimization in the dynamic textile industry landscape.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans to meet the company's procurement needs across textile supply chains.
- Manage supplier relationships by maintaining regular communication and evaluating supplier performance for quality and reliability.
- Lead contract negotiations to secure favorable terms and conditions with suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal standards.
- Oversee the purchase order management process from issuance through delivery to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Utilize procurement software and ERP systems to enhance the efficiency and transparency of procurement operations.
- Conduct cost analysis and identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining product quality and delivery schedules.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including the six key customer accounts to align procurement activities with business goals.
- Supervise and mentor a procurement team of five members, fostering professional development and ensuring compliance with procurement standards.
- Evaluate and monitor supplier risks and implement mitigation strategies for supply security and compliance.
- Manage import operations, coordinating logistics and regulatory requirements to ensure smooth customs clearance and on-time delivery.
- Ensure procurement processes adhere to all regulatory and corporate compliance requirements.
- Continuously explore new sourcing opportunities in targeted international markets such as China, Hong Kong, Dubai, Vietnam, and Bangladesh.
- Prepare procurement reports and present findings to senior management to inform strategic decision-making.
- Drive initiatives for continuous improvement in procurement practices to support operational excellence and cost efficiency.
