Description
MGH Engineering is seeking a skilled Fire System Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate brings at least two years of experience installing, inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire alarm systems. This role requires hands-on expertise in fire detection device installation and testing, as well as programming fire alarm control panels. The technician plays a crucial part in ensuring fire safety compliance and system reliability across diverse facilities, working closely with other departments to support safety measures. The Fire System Technician works independently and with a focus on accuracy and safety standards, as the role does not include team management responsibilities. The position calls for a candidate with a diploma in Electrical or Mechanical disciplines and a solid understanding of relevant technical processes and safety protocols. Strong attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues promptly are essential to succeed in this role.
Responsibilities
- Install fire alarm systems and fire detection devices according to technical specifications and safety standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests on fire alarm systems to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Program and configure fire alarm control panels, ensuring all settings meet project and safety standards.
- Perform maintenance tasks, including repairs and component replacements, to maintain uninterrupted fire system performance.
- Diagnose malfunctions or faults within fire alarm and detection systems and execute corrective actions efficiently.
- Document all installation, testing, and maintenance activities in detailed reports for record-keeping and compliance purposes.
- Collaborate with project managers and other departments to coordinate installations and system upgrades.
- Adhere strictly to safety guidelines and industry best practices during all technical activities.
- Keep current with technological advances and updates in fire safety systems and equipment.
- Support emergency response efforts related to fire safety system operations and troubleshooting.
- Participate in training sessions and safety meetings to continuously improve technical skills and knowledge.
