Description
We are looking for a reliable, organised and detail-oriented Compliance & Audit Officer to work remotely within our exempt supported accommodation service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring Support Workers’ daily work, checking that all required support is being delivered and recorded, ensuring council requirements are met, and completing regular in-house audits.
The role is essential in maintaining accurate records, identifying gaps in support delivery and ensuring the service meets its internal standards and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Support Worker Monitoring
* Monitor daily Support Worker records, including case notes, key-work sessions, welfare checks and support logs.
* Check that scheduled support has been completed and accurately recorded.
* Identify missed sessions, incomplete records or poor-quality case notes.
* Follow up with Support Workers regarding missing information and outstanding tasks.
* Monitor recurring issues and report concerns to management.
Council Requirements
* Check that all council-required support sessions and actions are completed and evidenced.
* Monitor support plans, agreed outcomes and relevant deadlines.
* Maintain trackers showing completed, missed and outstanding support.
* Identify gaps in service delivery and escalate concerns to the Service Manager.
* Assist with preparing records and reports for council reviews and contract monitoring.
In-House Audits and Quality Assurance
* Carry out regular audits of resident files, support plans, risk assessments, key-work records and other required documentation.
* Check that records are accurate, up to date and completed within required timescales.
* Identify missing documents, overdue reviews and areas of non-compliance.
* Maintain audit reports and action plans, ensuring identified issues are followed up.
* Provide management with regular updates on audit findings and outstanding actions.
Compliance and Safeguarding
* Identify and promptly escalate safeguarding concerns, serious incidents and failures to deliver required support.
* Ensure concerns and actions are accurately documented.
* Monitor whether actions arising from audits, incidents and reviews have been completed.
* Maintain confidentiality and follow organisational policies, safeguarding procedures and data protection requirements.
Administration and Reporting
* Maintain accurate electronic records, audit trackers and compliance spreadsheets.
* Prepare weekly and monthly reports for management.
* Communicate with Support Workers and managers regarding outstanding records and compliance issues.
* Manage workload independently and ensure deadlines are met.
* Attend online meetings and supervision sessions as required.
Essential Requirements
* Previous experience in supported accommodation, support work, compliance, auditing or administration.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to identify errors, discrepancies and missing information.
* Good IT skills, including email, spreadsheets and electronic record systems.
* Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
* Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and professional boundaries.
Experience within exempt supported accommodation and knowledge of local authority requirements would be desirable.
Equipment Required
As this is a home-based role, applicants must have:

Applicants must also have a suitable, private working environment and be able to comply with the organisation’s data protection and information security requirements. Access to confidential resident information must be through approved and secure systems.
Responsibilities
- Conduct remote audits and compliance checks on supported accommodation services to ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
- Review documentation, policies, and procedures related to supported accommodation to identify any discrepancies or areas of non-compliance.
- Prepare detailed audit reports highlighting findings, risks, and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Collaborate with service providers and internal teams to communicate audit outcomes and support the development of improvement plans.
- Monitor progress of corrective actions and follow up to ensure timely resolution of compliance issues.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of housing regulations, supported accommodation standards, and best practices.
- Analyze compliance data and trends to identify systemic issues and recommend strategic solutions.
- Support the development and implementation of compliance frameworks and quality assurance processes.
- Advocate for continuous improvement in service delivery through participation in policy reviews and team meetings.
- Respond to queries related to compliance and provide expert advice within the scope of supported accommodation.
- Ensure all audit activities and documentation comply with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
- Assist in preparation for external inspections and regulatory visits by ensuring all evidence of compliance is available and accurate.
