Millsdale is seeking a skilled Data & Business Intelligence Analyst to join its analytics team. This role focuses on turning complex data into actionable insights by leveraging robust data visualization and business intelligence tools. The ideal candidate brings at least three years of hands-on experience with SQL and Power BI, capable of developing comprehensive reports, dashboards, and data models. The role demands strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data accurately and translate technical findings into clear, understandable information for stakeholders. Although prior experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or familiarity with DevOps and observability practices is advantageous, it is not mandatory. The successful analyst thrives in a self-directed environment, tackling ambiguous challenges and providing well-reasoned recommendations to support business decisions. In this position, the Data & BI Analyst is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data reporting solutions that enhance the decision-making process at Millsdale. The analyst works closely with various departments to understand their data needs and deliver tailored insights through effective dashboards and visual reports. This role requires expertise in SQL querying, ETL processes, Power Query transformations, and DAX calculations to streamline data access and improve accuracy. Strong communication skills are essential to explain technical concepts in a straightforward manner, ensuring data-driven initiatives align with the company’s strategic goals. While this position does not involve team management, the analyst will collaborate across functions to influence data strategy and promote best practices in business intelligence.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to present business insights clearly.
• Write complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis to support various business functions.
• Design and implement data models ensuring data integrity and efficiency for reporting and analytics.
• Execute ETL processes to integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and consistency.
• Use Power Query and DAX to perform data transformation and complex calculations within Power BI.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that support business decision-making.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions.
• Communicate complex technical information and analysis results in an easily understandable manner.
• Investigate ambiguous problems, challenge assumptions, and provide clear justifications for recommendations.
• Support ongoing improvement of BI tools and data processes to enhance reporting capabilities.
• Maintain documentation related to data models, ETL workflows, and business intelligence procedures.
• Stay updated with emerging BI trends and technologies and evaluate their applicability to Millsdale’s needs.
