Description
The Digital Content Creator is responsible for creating and delivering high-quality video content that brings Muslim Aid’s international programme work to life for UK and global audiences. Based overseas and embedded within Muslim Aid’s country office or field operations, the role provides direct access to programme sites, beneficiary communities, and partner organisations, enabling the production of authentic, impact-driven content that supports income generation, donor engagement, and brand storytelling.
The role covers the full production cycle from field filming and directing through to post-production, editing, and delivery of finished assets to the Growth team in the UK. Critically, the editing remit extends beyond field-filmed content: the Digital Content Creator is responsible for editing all video and audio content produced by or for the Growth team, including UK-filmed content sent remotely, social media content, live appeal recordings, documentaries, podcasts, and campaign films across all formats. Working closely with the Product & Campaigns Manager, the Marketing Communications & PR Lead, and the Social Media & Content Officer, the postholder ensures a consistent pipeline of high-quality content that serves the department’s whole-year approach to donor engagement and supports all major campaigns, signature products, and audience segments.
Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and film video content at programme sites, country offices, and partner locations overseas, capturing impact stories, beneficiary testimonials, needs assessments, and programme evidence across all five thematic sectors.
• Develop compelling narrative concepts and storyboards in collaboration with the Product & Campaigns Manager and the wider Growth team, ensuring each piece of content is audience-appropriate and aligned with campaign or product objectives.
• Conduct interviews with beneficiaries, community members, partners, and staff in the field, ensuring a dignified, ethical, and trauma-informed approach to storytelling at all times.
• Coordinate with country office teams and programme staff to schedule and facilitate filming, ensuring access to sites, appropriate consent, and adherence to safeguarding and media policies.
• Capture a diverse range of content formats including campaign films, short-form social content, reels, testimonials, photo essays with video, and b-roll libraries for use across multiple campaigns.
• Respond to emerging programme and emergency situations, mobilising quickly to capture timely content that can support emergency fundraising appeals and crisis communications.
2. Video Editing and Post-Production
• Edit content for all growth activities by the agreed deadline ensuring that they meet the brief and quality standards for each platform the content will be disseminated on.
• Edit all footage produced by the Growth teams regardless of source, including field content filmed overseas by this role, UK-filmed content sent remotely by colleagues, social content captured by the Social Media & Content Officer or other team members, and footage submitted by country offices or programme teams.
• Live appeal recordings edited to broadcast-ready standard for TV and digital, including graphics and CTAs.
• Documentary-style impact films (5–15 mins) produced for donor and institutional audiences.
• Short-form social content produced across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and X.
• Podcast episodes and audio-led content produced, mixed, and exported for distribution.
• Campaign films (3–5 mins) produced for fundraising appeals and seasonal campaigns.
• Fundraising challenge, donor journey, and supporter testimonial content produced for email, social, and direct marketing.
• Event coverage and highlights packages produced from UK and overseas footage.
• Website video content produced and formatted for the site and impact hub.
• Edit content for the website, including programme pages, campaign landing pages, and the impact hub, ensuring all web video is appropriately compressed, captioned, and formatted for web performance.
• Incorporate motion graphics, animated lower thirds, title cards, infographics, and visual data storytelling elements into edits, working within brand guidelines and in collaboration with the Creative Designer where graphic design input is required.
• Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously across a varied content pipeline, maintaining clear version control, project file management, and a transparent status log accessible to the Product & Campaigns Manager.
• Work through a structured brief, review, and approval process with the Product & Campaigns Manager, incorporating feedback efficiently and ensuring all content meets sign-off requirements before distribution.
• Optimise all final exports for their intended platform and audience, including format, codec, resolution, aspect ratio, file size, and captioning, and deliver platform-ready versions alongside the primary master file.
• Oversee a project archive, with all final exports and master files stored, labelled, and accessible to the Growth team according to agreed naming conventions.
3. Content Strategy and Campaign Support
• Contribute to the Growth team’s content planning process, providing field-based insight into what stories, locations, and programme moments offer the strongest potential for donor engagement.
• Feed into the annual video content calendar, working with the Product & Campaigns Manager to ensure filming trips and production timelines are planned proactively and aligned with campaign priorities.
• Collaborate with the Social Media & Content Officer and the wider Growth team to ensure video content is integrated across channels and supports the whole-year approach to donor engagement.
• Support the development of new signature products by providing video content that tells the programme story behind each product in a compelling and audience-specific way.
• Monitor video performance data shared by the UK team, using engagement metrics, watch-through rates, and conversion data to continuously improve storytelling approach and production choices.
• Stay current with video trends, platform algorithm changes, and evolving formats, bringing proactive recommendations to the Product & Campaigns Manager on how to keep video output innovative and competitive.
• Assess video performance and use learning to drive change in future planning.
4. Equipment, Asset Management, and Compliance

• Ensure all content is produced and distributed in compliance with media consent, safeguarding, and data protection policies, including appropriate consent documentation for all filmed individuals.
• Manage rights, licensing, and attribution for all music, stock footage, and third-party assets used in productions.
