MERN Full Stack Developer

Description

We are seeking a skilled MERN / Next.js Full Stack Developer to design and build secure, scalable, and high-performance digital platforms. The role involves working extensively with MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Next.js, Node.js, and TypeScript. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in modern frontend development paired with solid backend engineering skills, including API design, database optimization, distributed systems, and scalable architecture. Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity and code quality is highly valued. Experience in fintech, payments, lending, or transaction-heavy platforms is a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack & Platform Development
Develop scalable applications using the MERN stack and TypeScript. Build modern web applications leveraging Next.js features such as Server/Client Components, routing, and reusable component architecture. Create modular backend services with clear separation of concerns, applying SOLID principles, clean code practices, design patterns, and reusable abstractions. Ensure code is production-grade, testable, and well-documented.

Backend Engineering & Advanced Architecture
Design scalable backend architectures using modular monolith, microservices, or service-oriented patterns. Utilize advanced Node.js concepts including event loop behavior, asynchronous programming, concurrency, streams, and worker threads. Implement reliable workflows with message queues, event-driven architecture, background jobs, and asynchronous processing. Apply fault-tolerant patterns such as idempotency, retries, timeouts, circuit breakers, rate limiting, and graceful degradation. Understand distributed systems concepts like eventual consistency, service communication, race conditions, distributed transactions, and failure handling. Architect systems for horizontal scalability and high availability.

APIs, Databases & Integrations
Design secure, versioned, and well-documented REST APIs and service integrations. Integrate payment systems, financial services, third-party platforms, and internal services. Optimize MongoDB schemas, indexes, aggregation pipelines, and queries. Handle database transactions, atomicity, concurrency, consistency, locking, and data integrity. Implement caching strategies using Redis or similar technologies. Follow API best practices including validation, pagination, idempotency, standardized error handling, and backward compatibility.

Security, Performance & Reliability
Implement secure authentication, authorization, RBAC, validation, encryption, secrets management, and data protection. Adhere to OWASP and secure coding standards, especially for financial and sensitive customer data. Optimize APIs, database queries, caching, memory usage, and application response times. Prevent common issues such as N+1 queries, memory leaks, race conditions, duplicate transactions, and inefficient database operations. Build reliable logging, audit trails, health checks, monitoring, and alerting systems. Design for high-volume transactions, concurrent workloads, failure recovery, and data consistency.

Cloud, DevOps & Observability
Work with Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Manage containerized deployments, environment configuration, and application scaling. Implement application monitoring and observability using structured logging, metrics, tracing, and error monitoring. Support production deployments, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and performance troubleshooting. Write unit, integration, and API tests using Jest, Vitest, Supertest, React Testing Library, or equivalents.

AI-Enabled Engineering
Utilize AI development tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or equivalents for development, debugging, testing, documentation, and refactoring. Leverage AI for code analysis, test generation, troubleshooting, documentation, and accelerating development. Use AI-assisted tools responsibly while maintaining security, code quality, architecture standards, and sound engineering judgment. Stay updated on emerging AI-assisted engineering practices and developer tooling.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field.
- 3–5 years of professional full stack development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, Express.js, React.js, Next.js, and MongoDB.
- Proven experience building and maintaining production-grade, scalable applications and backend services.
- Solid understanding of backend architecture, data structures, asynchronous programming, concurrency, and API design.
- Experience designing APIs, databases, integrations, and scalable application architectures.
- Familiarity with Redis, message queues, background processing, WebSockets, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with authentication, authorization, RBAC, API security, and secure data handling.
- Proficient with Git, Docker, CI/CD, automated testing, logging, monitoring, and observability.
- Strong debugging, system design, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

Experience in fintech, banking, payments, lending, digital wallets, e-commerce, or other transaction-heavy platforms is highly desirable. Candidates with experience building systems involving financial transactions, KYC/KYB, payment integrations, reconciliation, ledgers, workflows, or handling sensitive customer data will be given preference.
