Description
The Architectural Draftsman plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between conceptual design and practical implementation. By producing accurate and detailed drawings, the draftsman supports various project phases from initial planning and schematic design to construction documentation. They actively participate in project meetings to understand design intentions and adjust plans accordingly. The ability to review and revise blueprints for technical accuracy ensures the constructability and feasibility of the architectural solutions. Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, BIM, and 3D modeling tools allows the draftsman to create comprehensive and clear drawings that assist builders and contractors in executing projects efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed architectural drawings and construction documents using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- Collaborate closely with architects, designers, and engineers to incorporate design plans into technical drawings and construction specifications.
- Review and verify design blueprints for accuracy, compliance with architectural standards, and feasibility for construction.
- Make necessary revisions to drafted plans based on feedback, project requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of drafting software advancements, architectural standards, and industry best practices to enhance drawing quality and efficiency.
- Ensure that all drawings meet legal, safety, and regulatory compliance standards relevant to the construction industry.
- Participate in project coordination meetings to gather and relay design information, clarifications, and amendments.
- Assist in preparing drawings and documentation required for construction bids and tender processes.
- Organize and maintain detailed records of all sketches, drawings, blueprints, and revisions for project reference and archival purposes.
- Support site planning activities by providing accurate technical drawings needed during on-site construction phases.
- Use 3D modeling tools to visualize architectural designs and communicate spatial concepts effectively to stakeholders.
- Interpret and apply construction specifications to ensure that drawings reflect material requirements and building methods.
