Job Summary
We are looking for Cable Technicians to support fiber optic cable installation, network infrastructure development, and field maintenance operations. The ideal candidates should have a technical background in Electrical, Electronics or Telecommunications, with practical knowledge of cable handling, installation, and basic troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Install fiber optic cable infrastructure, including cable routing, laying and installation up to distribution boxes.
- Install and connect televisions, cables, routers and other IT devices at customer premises.
- Attend and resolve customer complaints related to cable connectivity and service issues through on-site troubleshooting.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist fiber splicing teams in the installation and maintenance of Fiber Distribution Terminals (FDT) and distribution boxes (ADT).
- Handle and lay different fiber optic cable capacities, including 2-core, 6-core, 12-core and 24-core cables.
- Support FTTH and GPON network installation and maintenance activities.
- Respond to service disruptions and assist in timely fault restoration.
- Identify and troubleshoot faults within cable networks.
- Assist in repairing and maintaining cable poles and related infrastructure.
- Ensure cables are properly tied, organized and bundled in accordance with safety standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 3-Year DAE in Electrical, Electronics or Telecommunications.
- Fresh candidates and candidates with 0–2 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
- Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, cable installation and handling.
- Understanding of basic telecom, fiber optic or networking concepts.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot basic cable and connectivity issues.
- Willingness to perform outdoor, field-based technical tasks, including working with cable poles.
- Good teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience as an Electrician, Cable Technician or Field Technician.
- Experience in handling, laying and managing pole cables.
- Exposure to fiber optic cable installation and distribution boxes.
- Familiarity with FTTH and GPON technology.
- Experience assisting fiber splicing teams.
Candidates with relevant technical diplomas or certifications from TEVTA / NAVTTC may also be considered.
