Description
We are seeking an experienced Optical Transmission Engineer with practical, hands-on experience in DWDM, OTN/MS-OTN and optical transport network implementation. The ideal candidate must have worked directly on Huawei optical transmission equipment and be capable of performing equipment configuration, service provisioning, commissioning, integration, network migration and service cutover activities.
This role is intended for engineers with direct optical transport implementation experience, rather than candidates whose experience is limited to NOC monitoring, ticket handling, microwave transmission, FTTH/GPON or general fiber-optic deployment.
Responsibilities
- Configure, integrate, commission and maintain optical transmission equipment and services across DWDM, OTN/MS-OTN and SDH networks.
- Perform hands-on work on Huawei optical transmission platforms, particularly OSN 9800 (M12/M24/U32/U64) and OSN 1800V/VPRO.
- Execute optical service provisioning, service rerouting, network integration, node insertion and service migration activities.
- Perform network migration and cutover activities, including SDH-to-OTN and migration from other vendors to OTN.
- Work on optical network migration scenarios involving FOADM-to-ROADM, OLA-to-ROADM and related optical transport upgrades.
- Support optical protection and ASON solutions, along with relevant MPLS and data transport features.
- Use NMS/NCE tools for service configuration, provisioning, migration and network management.
- Identify network risks, troubleshoot technical issues and develop corrective action plans in coordination with relevant teams.
- Deliver projects within agreed timelines and support planned cutovers, emergency activities and operational requirements.
- Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronics, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–4 years of directly relevant, hands-on optical transmission experience.
- Practical experience in one or more of DWDM, OTN/MS-OTN and SDH, with strong working knowledge of optical transport networks.
- Hands-on experience with Huawei OSN 9800 and/or OSN 1800 optical transmission equipment.
- Demonstrable involvement in equipment configuration, service provisioning, commissioning, integration or optical migration.
- Understanding of optical network protection, ASON, ROADM/FOADM and service cutover procedures.
- Familiarity with Huawei NMS/NCE platforms and multi-vendor optical network environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, risk assessment, analytical and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and support planned maintenance, cutovers and emergency activities when required.
Important Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates should clearly demonstrate their personal, hands-on contribution to optical transmission projects. Experience limited to monitoring alarms, handling tickets, coordinating with backend teams, reviewing site quality or deploying FTTH/fiber infrastructure alone will not meet the core requirements.
