Description
In this role, you will not manage a team but will play a critical part in reviewing technical drawings prepared by junior staff and support continuous improvement initiatives such as design cost reduction and value engineering. Your keen attention to detail, ability to handle multiple projects with strict deadlines, and clear communication skills will drive the success of the design deliverables. By maintaining design libraries and standards, you will help ensure consistent output quality. Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed 2D drawings using AutoCAD, including layouts, assemblies, part-level, and fabrication drawings to support manufacturing processes.
- Develop accurate 3D part and assembly models in Pro/ENGINEER (PTC Creo) and generate production-ready drawings from these models.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), fits, and material specifications correctly in all engineering drawings to ensure compliance and functional assembly.
- Transform concepts, sketches, and customer requirements into precise, design-ready, manufacturable 3D CAD models.
- Create and maintain comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure all drawings, models, and revisions follow strict document control and version management protocols.
- Coordinate with production, quality assurance, procurement, and maintenance teams to resolve design queries, manufacturability challenges, and engineering change requests efficiently.
- Process engineering change requests, update drawings accordingly, and communicate design revisions to relevant stakeholders to maintain alignment across departments.
- Review technical drawings prepared by junior designers or draftsmen to ensure accuracy, adherence to drawing standards, and completeness (mainly for Deputy Manager level).
- Support design improvement initiatives, including cost reduction and value engineering, contributing to enhanced product quality and reduced production complexities.
- Maintain and update design libraries, templates, and company-wide drafting and modeling standards to promote consistency and efficiency in deliverables.
- Ensure high-quality design outputs by achieving key success measures such as drawing accuracy and on-time delivery with minimal rework or change requests.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality or precision.
