Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University seeks a diligent Research Associate of Biochemistry with at least five years of experience in biochemical research and laboratory techniques. The candidate will engage in designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments focusing on molecular biology and protein chemistry. This role requires proficiency in advanced biochemical assays, chromatographic techniques, and cell culture methodologies to support ongoing research projects. The ideal candidate must possess strong analytical skills and be adept in data interpretation to contribute to scientific publications and presentations. The Research Associate will actively collaborate with the research team but will not have direct supervisory responsibilities. The position demands meticulous attention to detail in executing laboratory protocols and maintaining accurate records within the Laboratory Information Management System. Additionally, the associate will assist in optimizing experimental designs and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards at all stages of research activities.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute molecular biology experiments, including gene cloning, PCR, and protein expression.
- Perform protein purification using affinity, size exclusion, and ion exchange chromatography techniques to isolate and characterize proteins.
- Maintain cell culture lines, ensuring sterile conditions and healthy growth for biochemical assays.
- Conduct Western blotting and spectrophotometric analyses to assess protein expression and activity levels.
- Perform detailed data analysis and maintain comprehensive experimental records in the Laboratory Information Management System.
- Develop and optimize biochemical assays to measure enzyme activity, binding affinities, and other molecular interactions.
- Collaborate with principal investigators and research staff to interpret experimental results and refine research protocols.
- Assist in preparing scientific reports, presentations, and manuscripts for publication and conferences.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety guidelines and maintain equipment calibration and inventory.
- Stay current with emerging biochemical techniques and contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory methodologies.
