SNF Construction Group, a reputable Melbourne-based registered building company specializing in residential homes, custom homes, multi-unit developments, townhouses, renovations, and selected commercial construction projects, is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our growing team remotely. The Construction Estimator plays a crucial role in evaluating construction project costs and preparing detailed estimates that guide project planning and budgeting processes. This position requires expertise in interpreting construction drawings and specifications to accurately assess labor, materials, and equipment expenses, ensuring competitive and realistic project bids. The ideal candidate has at least three years of professional experience in construction estimating or quantity surveying and is proficient in using construction estimating software and digital quantity takeoff tools such as Bluebeam Revu and PlanSwift. The role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to solicit and analyze subcontractor quotes effectively. While this role does not involve managing a team, it requires excellent communication and collaboration with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather accurate data and deliver precise cost estimations that support successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Review architectural, structural, civil and engineering drawings.
- Prepare complete Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and detailed construction cost estimates.
- Complete material and labour quantity take-offs for residential and commercial projects.
- Prepare trade packages, scopes of works and purchase orders.
- Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Prepare tender submissions, costing schedules and variation estimates.
- Identify drawing discrepancies, missing information, provisional sums and project risks.
- Maintain accurate cost databases and supplier price schedules.
- Coordinate with the Australian director, construction team and suppliers.
- Update estimating and purchase orders information in company systems, including InSimplify where applicable.
