Description
SOI is looking for a highly organized and analytical Senior Accountant with over six years of experience, ideally in FMCG, manufacturing, or the edible oil sector. This role involves managing complex inventory accounting, production costing, and comprehensive financial operations tailored to the edible oil manufacturing business. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing cost controls, and supporting compliance with tax regulations. The position requires strong knowledge of raw material costing, supply chain dynamics, and corporate tax structures relevant to manufacturing environments. The Senior Accountant will lead and manage a small team of two accounting professionals. The role demands strong expertise in general ledger management, financial reporting, account reconciliation, and ERP systems. The successful candidate will also assist the Finance Manager in preparing crucial financial reports such as profit and loss statements and cash flow forecasts. This position is essential in ensuring the financial health and accuracy of SOI’s accounting operations, supporting strategic decision-making through timely and precise financial information.
Responsibilities
- Manage inventory accounting for raw materials including crude oil, seeds, and packaging materials, as well as work-in-progress and finished goods inventory.
- Monitor and report on product margins and cost of goods sold (COGS) to provide insights into profitability and production efficiency.
- Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of all financial transactions relating to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor payments related to the supply chain.
- Perform daily reconciliations of bank statements, vendor accounts, and multi-warehouse stock to ensure accuracy and support financial integrity.
- Assist in calculation, documentation, and filing of provincial and federal sales taxes, customs duties, and withholding taxes applicable to the manufacturing process.
- Prepare and assist in delivering monthly profit and loss reports and cash flow forecasts to support financial planning and analysis.
- Oversee adherence to internal controls and company policies to safeguard financial assets and maintain accuracy in reporting.
- Lead a team of two accounting professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluation to enhance team productivity and skills.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, supply chain, and production, to ensure seamless integration of accounting processes with business operations.
- Utilize ERP systems such as SAP, QuickBooks, Busy, or Tally to streamline financial operations and improve reporting accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and local regulations by keeping updated with industry best practices and changes in tax laws.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within accounting functions to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance reporting capabilities.
