Description
The Imports & Accounts Manager at STAR Dyes plays a critical role in overseeing and coordinating the company's import operations while managing all related financial activities. The manager supervises a team of four members, providing leadership and guidance to achieve departmental goals. The role demands strong skills in vendor management, accounts payable, financial reporting, inventory management, and supply chain coordination to maximize operational efficiency and cost control. In addition to managing import transactions and documentation, the Imports & Accounts Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate records, handling accounts receivable and payable, assisting with monthly financial closing, and managing banking documents. The role involves preparing import costing, calculating landed costs, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations and Incoterms. The individual contributes to maintaining customer and supplier ledgers and collaborates across departments to support import and financial operations, ensuring STAR Dyes remains compliant and efficient in its import and accounting practices.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage import operations ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and customs documentation.
- Supervise and lead a team of four, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations.
- Manage vendor relationships to facilitate timely and cost-effective procurement of imported goods.
- Coordinate with supply chain teams to align inventory management and import scheduling.
- Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of proper records of import transactions, payments, and banking documents.
- Handle accounts payable and receivable functions, maintaining customer and supplier ledgers.
- Assist with monthly financial closing and preparation of financial reports related to import and accounts activities.
- Prepare detailed import costing and calculate landed costs to support budgeting and pricing decisions.
- Implement and monitor cost control measures to optimize operational expenses.
- Use ERP software and Inventory Management Systems to track imports and manage inventory efficiently.
- Ensure adherence to customs regulations, import documentation management, and compliance with Incoterms.
- Collaborate with accounting teams to ensure smooth integration of import costs into financial statements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in customs regulations and international trade policies.
- Support internal audits and communicate with external auditors regarding import and accounts transactions.
- Develop and improve processes related to import logistics, accounting workflows, and compliance procedures.
