Description
Tablo (tablo.pk) is Pakistan’s first discount-led restaurant booking platform where diners book a table at off-peak times and get a discount. We are launching on Nov 1st in Lahore. Our product has 3 interfaces: a diner app, a restaurant portal and an admin panel. It was built by an outsourced agency and we are now building our own in-house tech team. You will be our first engineer.
The role
You will own Tablo’s technology end to end. You will take over a working codebase from our partner agency and make it secure and stable, and keep shipping new features as we grow. You will report to the CEO. Our technical advisor will support you with code reviews and architecture decisions.
This is a senior role with real ownership. You will make decisions, not just close tickets. You're either based in Lahore or willing to move to within a year.
What you’ll do
- Take over the codebase, the AWS infrastructure and deployments from our outgoing development partner
- Fix security issues in authentication, rate limiting and data protection
- Make bookings reliable under real traffic
- Add automated tests and a reliable CI/CD pipeline
- Build new features for diners, restaurants and our internal team
- Monitor production and respond to issues, including some evening cover during restaurant peak hours
- Write clear documentation so the team can grow around you
Our stack
Next.js, React, TypeScript, Node.js (NestJS), PostgreSQL (Prisma), AWS, in a Turborepo monorepo. WhatsApp and SMS messaging integrations.

Responsibilities
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Deep production experience with Next.js: server and client components, routing, data fetching and caching
- Strong React and TypeScript skills
- Solid backend experience with Node.js, building and securing REST APIs (NestJS is a plus)
- Strong PostgreSQL and relational database design (Prisma is a plus)
- Working experience with AWS (S3, CloudFront, RDS, IAM)
- Good grasp of web security: authentication, rate limiting, data protection
- Experience writing automated tests and setting up CI/CD
- Comfort owning work end to end with little hand-holding, including deployments and incidents
- Clear written and spoken English
- Familiarity with AI coding tools such as Claude
