Description
WorkWise is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant with a minimum of three years of professional experience to join and manage its accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in roofing, construction, and custom homebuilding accounting, with a thorough understanding of commercial and multifamily construction financials. This role involves overseeing a team of three individuals, ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing budgets, and maintaining compliance with industry-specific accounting principles and regulations. The candidate should excel in project profitability analysis, construction job costing, and revenue management, supporting the company’s financial health by delivering clear and precise financial statements. The Accountant plays a critical role in handling WorkWise’s comprehensive accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entry management. Mastery of accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, and Oracle Financials is essential, along with advanced Excel skills for financial reporting and analysis. The position emphasizes the requirement to handle accounting for inventory, subcontractors, tax reporting, and customer deposits specific to the construction industry. This role also requires preparing detailed financial forecasts, managing work in progress and unbilled revenue, and ensuring adherence to Texas sales and use tax laws.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of three accounting professionals to ensure accuracy and efficiency in daily accounting operations.
- Oversee roofing, construction, production, custom homebuilding, and multifamily accounting activities with a focus on job costing and project profitability.
- Prepare and review comprehensive financial reports, journal entries, and bank reconciliations to maintain accurate accounting records.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
- Coordinate budgeting and forecasting efforts to support financial planning and strategic decision-making.
- Monitor work in progress (WIP), unbilled revenue, and revenue accruals to provide up-to-date financial insights.
- Maintain accurate inventory and roofing material accounting records to control resources and costs effectively.
- Handle customer deposits, retainage, subcontractor accounting, and 1099 reporting to comply with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Texas sales and use tax regulations and prepare related reports.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, and Oracle Financials for reporting and financial data management.
- Develop and execute advanced Excel financial reports and analysis to assist management with critical business decisions.
- Improve accounting processes and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy within the team.
- Conduct financial analysis and audit preparation to support internal and external audits.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and ensure aligned financial practices throughout the company.
