This role offers the opportunity to develop practical skills in hand and power tool operation while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. With at least two years of experience, the Trade Assistant plays a key role in facilitating smooth workflow and supporting daily operational tasks without direct team management responsibilities. The Trade Assistant focuses on adhering strictly to Workplace Health and Safety Compliance and implements Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) to minimize risks and promote safety awareness on-site. This position requires attention to detail, a proactive approach to safety, and the ability to operate tools and equipment efficiently under supervision. Collaboration with trades teams is critical for timely task execution and maintaining high standards of workmanship throughout all assigned duties.
Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople by preparing and maintaining tools and materials for daily tasks.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently following all safety protocols.
- Implement and adhere to Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) to ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite to promote safety and efficiency.
- Conduct routine safety inspections to identify and address potential hazards proactively.
- Support transportation and setup of equipment and materials to various job locations as required.
- Follow established procedures for the safe disposal of waste and hazardous materials.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to deadlines.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly to supervisors.
- Assist in inventory checks and ensure availability of necessary tools and materials for ongoing projects.
- Participate in workplace safety training programs to stay updated on safety standards and procedures.
